Default Carbon Fiber Hood

The other day I was at one of our local speed shops and this kid in a 2000'ish honda civic comes in to pick up a hood that he had ordered. He got some carbon fiber thing that was black.......his car is white. Anyway, I asked him why he dicided to get that hood for his car. He said he was trying to reduce weight in his car to go faster. Now, this kid was around 5' 6" and must have weighed 220lbs.. Does anyone else see the irony in this? ( I couldn't stop laughing once he left)

I think that he is laughing at the ridiculous reasoning that goes on in a RICER's head; to think that eliminating maybe 10 lbs at the most with a carbon fiber hood will make his car really fast.

Well WhyTF do you think everybody invests money into hoods? 10-20 lbs off the front end never hurt anybody.
The added scoop / cowl is just a bonus as far as I'm concerned.

Now if the ricer dude wasn't racing his car, now that's different.

He should save the money for other stuff and learn 2 words. I'm full! That will take care of the weight reduction.

The Ricer could have been honest and said that he really liked the look of carbon fiber; but this bullshit about making his car go faster.....come on. Those little Civics at most come with a 1.7L SOHC unless it was an Si. Believe me, no one loves the look of carbon fiber more than me, but if a Ricer wants to go fast he should just put some APC, AEM, NOS, and Radio Active decals all over the little rocket. Oh, and a 3ft tall wing in the back always helps too. And remember.. THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT

Come on guys, quit being so freakin' narrow-minded! Carbon fiber hoods obviously reduce weight, and whether you're skinny or fat, that helps! If I could get one for my car, I probably would. Pretty soon they'll be able to build their whole cars out of carbon fiber, and that would be pretty sweet imho! What do you think the McLaren is?
