Need help diagnosing trans/convertor problem
I recently put my entire stock exhaust (headers and all) back on the car and I'm noticing sounds coming from the transmission that I didn't hear before. In any gear it makes a whining sound. It also does it in neutral and park. At higher speeds the whining is either not as bad or the sound is overwhelmed by other sounds.
The transmission shop that installed the convertor and rebuilt my trans had a look at it yesterday. They dropped the pan and the fluid looked brand new and there was no debris whatsoever. They even broke apart the filter to make sure nothing was clogging it.
Could this be a problem with the convertor or maybe a failing pump? The noise is driving me nuts and I'd like to fix it before any serious issues occur. I've been thinking of swapping the stock convertor in (which I know is good) to help in determining the issue.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
