Default G-Force Crossmember A-Body Chevelle - HELP

Folks-
Anyone modify a G-Force RCAE double-hump crossmember for a T56 setup in a 68-72 Chevelle? What is involved?
I have an LS3/T56 setup in my 72 Chevelle, and putting the finishing touches on it for Power Tour. I have not started the car since 2007, so I am looking forward to finishing it. Anyway - I have the first edition (circa 2007) BRP engine mounts and tranny crossmember, with Hooker engine swap headers. The engine sits high in the engine bay so I can use a stock F-body oil pan, which means the headers only clear the floorboards by about 3/4". Good for clearance, until the exhaust runs directly into the crossmember. I need more clearance, because I need to stuff a 3" pypes system under there, and cannot stand to see headers and exhaust hanging underneath the car. I have been told the RCAE can be modified with some cutting and welding (which I can do) but want to know what I am getting in to first...
