Default Head Stud Question

I am going to use head studs on my L76, LS2 short block with LS3 heads. This is my first trip into LSX land, so I am used to building first gen Sbc's. When I built my 383's I always used ARP thread sealer with teflon on head bolts/studs as they went into the water jackets.

Do I do the same thing with an LS based build, are the head bolts in water jackets? the directions said moly lube but I didn't see anything about thread sealer and am worried about going forward without the proper knowledge.

Thanks ahead of time for any light you can shed on this subject.

They don't go into water like the older engines. Be sure the threads are clean and dry, you might very lightly lube the threads, not enough to trap air behind them. On mine I would screw them in slowly allowing the trapped air to get out. They should only be hand tight.

Use the lube with the kit on the studs where they go i. the block, the part the nut goes on, and the washers..

Clean holes really well..

hand tighten studs..

put heads on using torrent sequence.. large studs are 3 step 30/60/75.. Small are one step 24..

Tighten all down.. Back them off and re tighten.. Do this step three times..

loose the last time and use an Allen head to make sure all studs are still seated good, mine weren't fwiw..

Tighten one more time then. wait thirty mins.. Do one final pass at last torque setting.

I did a lot of research before i did mind as there was mixed instructions.
