Default OBX 2.25" Mild Steel V-Band, with pics.

Well after reading the thread about 2.5" vs 2.25" I decided to go with a 2.25" system even though I already had some used parts 2.5" parts...

These OBX clamps are the cheapest I could find, for the price they don't look bad at all. Here are some pics. The T-bolt looks like a pos but other than that I cant complain.

The I.D. is 2.115

Ive been using them for years. I've used these as well as the Vibrant V Band assemblies and the OBX are easier to weld with in the SS version. They have much more material and all the same features with the interlocking ring.
However, I've been ripped off about 5 times from various sellers of these clamps. I've ordered and paid for SS and received Mild Steel. And once came in a different size than what was ordered, although the box says otherwise. It's a real PITA getting it all resolved when most of the time you need these the minute they arrive.

Right now I’m going to use them as is. I will just be careful to not over tighten the nut.

If anything happens I’ll post up but I’m sure they will be fine as long as I’m careful.

Actually just ordered two yesterday. Only thing I dont like from the pictures is the nut looks like it has nylon on the inside.

If you have ever ordered 60$ vband assemblies from racepart solutions they are made in illinois and have no nylon on the inside. Its a special designed nut just for vband clamps.

Has anyone evervhad the nylon melt? I imagine it would easyily but does that make it so they come loose on there own?

Been on my car for about 500 miles and they have not backed off, even if the nylon has melted still holding tight

I've broke two Ebay clamps so far from over tightening them. They weren't obx but for $15 i can't complain haha. The nylon had never melted for me either. Even the expensive ones i got from Maney have nylon nuts on them

It is indeed a nylock nut, I plan to spend a few dimes and getting some distorted thread locknuts.

I picked up the stainless version of the 2.25's a few weeks ago. Bastards are expensive as all hell.

FYI the OBX ones have some kind of coating on them when new, I brushed them up with my SS brush and cleaned with thinner before I started to tig on them had to stop and get on the belt sander and flap wheel to get it off.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll be sure to clean them up before I weld them.
