Default Looking at buying a block, whats the difference?

Hello everyone, looking at buying an LS1 block on ebay.

What should I look for? Long block or short block? I plan on going supercharged or twin turbo in the future.

And what should it be from? I see them on ebay out of GTOs a lot.

Edit: A friend told me the early corvette LS1s had better flowing heads, true? And what would be the best trans to mate with the LS1? Are the corvette 6 speeds worth the money?

No, it's exactly the opposite. The later LS1 heads (241 casting, '01+ models plus some very late build '00 models) were slightly better flowing in stock form. This is simply due to the casting process, so all advantage is negated if you plan to get them ported anyway (at that point all LS1 heads have equal performance potential).

And it doesn't matter if the LS1 came from a Corvette or an F-body, the head castings will be the same for same model year cars, only difference being Z06/LS6 engines.

look for a lq4 6.0 long block .it has a iron block and lower compression ,good for boost.
