Trouble reading Lokar dipstick. How many quarts?
I posted this in the Trans forum but havent gotten a reply so here goes.
I have a LS swapped 91 corvette with a 4l60E. Im running a B$M cooler with about 14' of -6 AN line. I also have a 9" converter. I lost my previous trans prematurely and I'm worried it could happen again because I cant tell how much fluid this stupid thing has with the Lokar dipstick.
I put roughly 7 quarts in before initial start up and then a couple more after for a total of nine. It looked almost full but I was not sure and it seemed like too little fluid. I slowly added until it looked full. It now looks like its a little over full ant 12 quarts.
Am I over filled or is this dipstick playing tricks on me? What is the empty capacity of a 4l60E and if it is over filled why isn't it dumping out of the vent tube?

It requires 8.4 quarts (9.64" torque converter) or 11.4 quarts (11.81" torque converter) of Dexron III or Dextron VI fluid, which the factory claims to be a lifetime fill.
