coolant air bleed pipes, are they needed ?
hi there everyone
ive shoehorned in an LS1 into an old MK2 Ford Escort here in the uk and am in the process of rebuilding the engine and was wondering how important are the coolant air bleed pipe/system, can i do away with them and blank off the holes on the heads or are they very important to the cooling system, does anyone else run without them fitted ?
many thanks with any info you can give me
cheers

Stock ls6 intake cars came from the factory with the back 2 blocked off, but I would highly recomend you run all 4 because with even just the back 2 plugged you can get hot spots in the head.
Sounds like a great project! Twenty plus years ago I had a 68 Ford Cortina by Lotus...I wish I never would have sold it.
Any chance of getting you to post any pics? I doubt if many people on here even there was a rear wheel drive Escort built lol
