What to do with auto trans
I bought a 2000 T.A with auto with only 8000 miles. I know the trans has never been changed. What would you do ? Just check the level ? Or change it? The car is bone stock like it left the factory. Thanks George

Having said that, I don't think any harm has been done so far. 13 years might seem like a long time for fluid, but keep in mind that trans fluid does not face the same challenges as something like engine oil. There is no combustion taking place inside the trans, so the fluid doesn't get broken down and contaminated as quickly as would be the case with engine oil.
You could certainly drop the pan and change it. In fact, you could even flush it if you want, because I doubt that any significant debris would have built up in just 8k miles, and you also don't have to worry about chemical shock with such low mileage fluid currently in the trans. I'm not really sure that you would benefit any from a flush though, since the fluid in there now is probably still in pretty good shape. Personally I would just do a pan drop/filter change/refill.
For reference, my garage queen '98 received it's first pan drop/filter change in 2005 when it had only 12k miles on it, and what came out still looked pretty much like new. I have not changed the trans fluid since that time, and it now has 16.5k miles on it. I will probably do another pan drop in the next couple of years.
