Default Lou's short stick install q

I was trying to figure out my shift **** issue tonight and was looking at the Lou's short stick.(It was on the car when I bought it) I can't count how many times I have looked at this thing and taken it off and never paid a bit of attention to it.

I know it attaches on the left side of the shifter, but does the bend go towards the dash or towards the driver? I have been searching for 1/2 an hour and can't find a definitive answer. I turned the shifter around and drove the car. It's different but I don't know if its right or not.

Sorry for the newb type question but I would like to know how it's "suppose" to be.

Thanks.

If you are sitting in the driver's seat, the stick should attach to the right side of the stub coming out of the shifter. The short stick then bends in towards the driver.

If all the parts are correct, (shifter, stick, etc.) it shouldn't come in contact with the console at all.

With the stick that I have, which ever one it is, attaches on the driver side of the shifter. After driving it to work today I quickly realized that it curves back towards the driver and not towards the dash.

How could it attach that way? Aren't your bold threads on the shifter and not the stick?

I have one of Lou's sticks and recall that there are friction grooves machined in to the stick so it "locks" in to the right side of the shifter.

I will post a pic of it tomorrow. The guy I bought the car from said it was a Lou's so I'm not 100% sure.

The bolt holes are in the shifter. I looked at the putting the stick on the right side of the shifter and there isn't enough room, the stick would hit the center console.

It attaches on the driver side of the shifter. The bend should go towards the DASH or when the trans is in 2nd, 4th, or 6th it will be too close to the back of the shifter hole.

Sorry - I wasn't correct above. My short stick has been so worry free over the last 10 years, I haven't had the need to look at it and refresh my memory. My sick is also inboard just like this ^

When I put in my new shifter and stick, I did have some problems with the cheap lock washers loosening up. I ended up installing Nord-lock washers way back when and they haven't budged a bit.
