Total conversion in engine thinking
Well I've been in the performance aftermarket industry for over 30 years. I have owned an advertising agency specializing in performance and racing equipment manufacturers for 27 of those years (corporate aircraft in the beginning). I have built many cars - hot rods, a few race cars and some classic trucks, as well as classic sports cars. I always thought of myself as Ford guy.
Then I bought a 2007 GMC with a 5.3L "LS" and it blew me away with its performance! So I immediately dropped the idea of a Ford 5.0L for my wife's '60 Rambler Wagon and found a low mile 5.3L truck motor for it with a 4L65E.
To my suprise the engine/trans was cheaper than any "conventional" V8 combo! So now I have to learn the secrets of the LS world.
