Default Clutch pedal issue. HELP!!

2001 WS6 6speed. im having an issue with the clutch. i just bought the car and put a motor in it. car has new clutch and looks like a newer slave cyl. could it be the master? i dont want to just throw parts at it. car wont go into gear when its running unless you pump the pedal a few times. But if you hold the clutch in while running and in gear it starts ti slowly engage the clutch. ?? any ideas? i have tried to bleed the syst.

Follow the "bleeding a tick master" directions in the sticky above. It's the best way to bleed a master. These masters are a bitch to bleed, and you have to take your time and do it right. It's also not uncommon for the stock ones to fail, they really aren't up to the task at all.
