intake on 5.3L?
i have done some researching since im planning to put a 5.3l in my lt1 bird.
I have seen mixed reviews but mostly pointing to the ls6 intake being the better choice over the ls1 and ls2 intake, are there any other good options?
also im trying to stay smog legal, so I was thinking a baby cam and some smog legal shorty headers. im aiming for 400whp
I will be converting the car over to a 6 speed as well.

Keep in mind the LS6 intake performs better on the larger 5.7 LS1. The smaller 5.3 will do fine with an LS1 intake and will be about $300 less. Also will fit under your hood.
400 rwhp, smog legal will be difficult, go with a 6.0 if you need 400hp at the wheels.
But a 5.3 with just a cam can generate some nice hp, see this thread.

i could port the heads to get some more power out of it, even if i hit 370whp id be happy with that.
i had an ls1 Camaro with minor bolt ons with ms4 cam and ls1 intake and put down 399rwhp.

Well, the 5.3 is smaller and has lower compression. IMHO chasing the last few hp at 6000 rpm generally is not worth the effort.
Btw, if you have a 400hp goal, why not use a 6.0 instead of a 5.3? An LQ9 is at 400 crank hp with almost no mods.

I might go ahead and sell the 5.3 for a 6.0
the cost of a 6.0l around here are around 1400 bucks, and at that price I can find an ls1 that don't need any mods to fit in the car.
