94 lt1 gas smell and losing power at high rpm
The car seems to start hard after it sits overnight and when I ran my buddy's g35 it ran away from me until it shifted into od and actually pulled harder from 3500. it idles fine but does backfire after a high rpm pull so im not sure if its a fuel pump or what.

Mods? Need a little more to go on here.
My first guess would be to look at would be the plug wires; how old are they? Does it sound normal (firing on all 8?) Mine popped like it was making popcorn after letting off the gas when I had some bad wires LOL.
Second guess is a clogged cat....happened to me before I went to offroad pipes and it slowly strangles your car and makes it a dog at high RPM....and kills fuel mileage. Put a test pipe on it

The only mods are a catback and cai. The fuel pump is very suspect on this car right now,I had to bang the tank to get it started yesterday. Plug wires are kind of old, so I'll wait until its nice and dark and watch for the fireworks.

The fuel pump was bad so I replaced it but the car still falls flat on its face at around 5 grand most of the time and takes forever to upshift. Theres no codes or anything I can figure but it hits a wall almost until it upshifts. I'm at a loss really, cat is alright fp seems fine (haven't gauged it after the pump because it cleared up for a while) and cleaned my air filter. Any clues?
