knock sensor: extending the wires
is there any reason i cannot cut and extend my knock sensor wires? or is there a reason to spend 30-40 bucks on an extension harness "kit". im doing a ls1>ls2 swap and need to relocate the sensors to the side of the block.

Just make sure you use the correct gauge wire
Clean copper wire strands before soldering
Slide on a piece of adhesive heat shrink tube
Solder the connection an shrink the tubing. Good to go.
Far a butt connectors.
Only kind I recommend are heat shrink butt connectors, or bare uninsulated ones and use heat shrink tube over those after the crimp. Use quality ratcheting crimper only with the correct dies, heat shrink connectors used a certain die.
O, and stagger the connection with butt connector so there isn't a large bulge. Do it like this
