Hi Dan,
There are only two systems available for the 8.1. Paxton doesn't have a kit for the 2004 trucks yet. The non-intercooled versionof the Whipple supercharger is $4149. while the intercooled kit will set you back $5749. This is the system that helped put my Suburban into the 13s

Default Procharger or Vortech

Tom I`m thinking about going FI with this car. A few years ago I had a 95 Z28 with a Procharger(3 core big intercooler) and that car allways ran hot in the summer, so it kind of left a bad taste for ATI. Now with the LS1 cars you dont hear alot about overheating problems with ATI but alot of belt slippage issues. There is a guy here in Orlando thats running a LT1 Z28 with a Vortech thats basically a race only car the car runs 9.8 to 10.0 very consistant, and he says he`s had no prblems with the Vortech. So I`m leaning toward the Vortech but the D1 ATI cars that are`nt having problems seem to run better then the Vortechs in LS1s. I guess you can`t publicly favor one brand over the other because you sell both ,so if you could PM me some input and prices that would be great. Thanks Dave

Hi Dave,
I have my board PMs turned off. If you want to talk about this on the side I can be reached at tbyrne@tbyrne.com. The Vortech systems are the most popular that we carry (maybe a 60/40 split). I ran 10.80s with a Vortech, mild heads/cam and basic bolt-ons a few years ago. There was still room left for improvement. Some of the high boost ATI kits have had belt slippage issues. 8-9# hasn't been to bad. They now have an 8 rib upgrade available. This combined with the balancer for the other ATI completes the kit but it adds $1280. to the price.
