Search dude. It's been done. Some people have had success, some not so much. The biggest gripe people have is that the intake valve is shoved too close to the bore and is badly shrouded. Others complain the ports are too big and lazy. Some just can't figure out what cams work with this type of induction package. If you search the dynamometer results section, you can find lots of info and come to your own conclusions.

I'm looking at selling my rec ports and using 862 heads on my 6.0, for a low to mid rpm 4wd.
and bring the chambers out to the bore on the sides to deshroud....comp might be high though ...

for ls3 heads on ls2 I think only if ur looking at big cam high revs...

I’ve experimented with this. Last 6liter I built was for my brothers 99’ 4x4 ext cab which he uses for towing. I even used a set of GMPP CNC ported heads to make the setup tougher to find torque with because I like a challenge. The key to using square ports for torque is caming it properly, paying attention to lobe family, not just duration and lift. I used a 219/231 .604/.607 Comp hydraulic custom grind. I used an intake from an LY6, which is as good as an LS3 up top with more torque down low. 42 lb injectors. Block was bored .030. Moroso 37900 head dowels to orient intake valves closer to center of bore for torque. No issue of intake alignment with these...very important. Shoot for at least 10.75 compression...11:1 or better if you have access to 92/93 octane in your driving area. Truck is torquey as all get out. He has a built 4l60 with a 2200 CircleD stall and it works very well. Tows a large trailer with a couple atv’s and hunting supplies with ease. Previously a 5.3 truck that would kill itself to pull same trailer. We didn’t touch gearing. It’s a 3.42 truck and 3.90’s would only make the rig work better. He runs a big 305/70/16 tire with a body lift, so you can see why gearing would help so much more.
