That webbing makes it stronger and helps protect from heat warpage over time. Now rather or not that would ever happen is questionable. One way to find out.

Nice. Looks more like a single plane now.

Any idea how much weight it saved?

Looks good. I've wondered why they didn't leave it open like the GM dual plane intake.

I may have to do that to mine over the weekend.

Yea zone I was going to go till it was flush, but the way the runners run wont won't allow it its hard to explain, guess I should post a few more pics, that material shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Looks good and you kept the strength leaving some ribbing there....and I agree, I would also cut the divider down some (1/2" or so) like the RPM SBC manifold. (more RPM)

I was wondering the same thing, but according to Zone there's no gains to be had:

I found a 1" open spacer worked well on my old school 406SBC performer intake until I bought a VicJr.
I figured trimming the divider would help these LSx's breath better too ?

But did find that the 1/2" spacer made the most power

Won't know till you try. I only try to leave faith in the fact that edelbrock did the dropped divider on the sbc performer rpm air gap and like to believe they tried it inthe engineering phase of the LS performer rpm. Now, who is to say that they didn't just pump it out and not try it? I am assuming the non milled divider promotes a ton more torque than the lower milled piece?

I would not be objected to seeing some dyno results.

It will be level when you take in account for the backward tilt of the motor, its usually 3 to 5 degrees. They are designed for that I believe
