Default Max timing at part throttle?

Im working on a MAP curve on the 72 Camaro, now that Im happy with the base timing setup. I think I have my head wrapped around the concept now, Im just wandering what every ones opinion is on max timing at part throttle cruise. For some reason 45* total is sticking in my head as the best for mileage, so I must have read it somewhere. I am running 34* all in by 2000now, so I think Im going to back that up to 1500rpms so the map advance will be easier to control at my cruise rpm of between 1600-1800rpms. Unless someone has a better idea, Im going to add 11* with the map at high vacuum, cruise rpm for a total of 45*. What yall think?

Im at 28* timing with 12* from the map for a total of 40* at max vac. Different combos will like differebt timing.. I think I could bump my timing from 28 to 31 but without a dyno or track to show its working I stuck with what I have. I get about 23 mpg on the highway @3200 ish rpm and 65 mph now so thats not horrible

That's great mileage with that much rpm! Yea , I know they are all different, but I had heard somewhere that 45* was some magic number for best mileage. I think I will try that and see how it acts. With a cruise rpm of less than 1800, I hope to get some pretty good mileage. I will probably go for a cruise this weekend and see what it gets me. Thanks for the response.

Be careful with too much timing down low If your running a stick. They load the engine more than a auto. Keeo a ear open for any mysterious sounds. Id vote to go lower and then work your way up any time your dealing with timing. Good luck

Im running a stalled auto. I just finished setting it up and all I have left to do is mount the sensor somewhere. This thing just went from stealthy to pure sleeper. It doesn't have a hint of lope anymore ! Don't know that I like that, but it sounds like a GM target master 350 at idle ! It could easily pass off as a 15 second cruiser by the sound of it.
