What are AFR 190 bare ported heads worth?
A guy I just met has a pair of old AFR 190 bare "ported" heads. We briefly chatted about me possibly buying them, but they are the old style and only 190s. What caught my attention is that he said they flowed over 300cfm peak intake and are CNC'd to 200cc/205cc. I don't remember if he said at what lift. I need a good set of heads to wake up my 383. I have crappy stockers with a terrible port job. What I want to know is are they worth my time and money or should I just pass? What is a fair price for both of us if they are worth a damn? What I really want are Ai CNC'd 200cc GM LT1's and they flow at 289.6 at .650. Should I just save for the AI heads or HOPE I find some use one day? I want a powerful engine, but I'm not going for any world records either. I just thought that if they are better than the AI heads and cost less than $1800 to put together. I could live knowing that they are old 190s. Any opinions?

You don't know how the heads will work till you know what CNC program was used on them or how they actually ran in an assembled engine. There are a LOT of CNCs all over the country and a lot of different master programs being used and a lot of different guys loading the machines who could install a head halfassed in the fixture.
