Default Muncie behind 00 5.3?

Im going to look at a 2000 5.3 tomorrow and just want to make sure I can use it with my muncie trans with 04ish chevy truck 4.8 5 speed clutch and flywheel from local parts store. I cant find where I read what years there was no flywheel that would fit the crank because of it being longer. I seen some say 99-00 6.0 had the long crank but is that the only one?

There is probably an adapter kit for it, but a t56 is such a better choice I would
Never bother.

I think a 621 bellhousing, ls7 pilot bearing and the appropriate clutch for the motor will work.

It can be done. You don't need that +.400 flywheel either. I got it, but an ls1 flywheel will work fine.
Use LS7 pilot bearing and bbc scatter sheild.
You may need to use a slightly longer release bearing if you use ls1 flywheel, but an adjustable pivot ball can take up some of the slack, and may be enough. I modded my clutch fork to take up the slack.

I used an 08 5.3L with the following:

Flywheel: http://www.3guysautoparts.com/searchitem.epc (NFW1050) (3 Guys Auto Parts) $46.58

Pilot bearing to convert LS to muncie: (summit) ($12.97)
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/nal-12557583

Clutch Kit: (Amazon) ($99.20)
Sachs K5552-03 Clutch Kit : Amazon.com : Automotive Sachs K5552-03 Clutch Kit : Amazon.com : Automotive

Hope this helps!
