Max effort turbo selection suggestions
I'm in the process of building a 275 car for a local class and was gonna get some input from everyone on which direction they would go and why as far as turbo. I have a 409 with cnc'ed ls7 heads. 12.5:1 running on e85. Below are the different combos that are legal in the class. Please elaborate on why u choose what u do
1. Billet 80mm with a/a
2. Cast 80mm with a/w
3. Cast 88mm with a/a plus 100 lb penalty

How fast is the class going? Billet 88s allowed? We have found the limit on c85 with 76mm turbos. I would put it on gas. We are going high 5.teens @3200 with 76mm s400 chassis turbos from FI.
3 different cars are all in the same ET range. They are either getting head gaskets or pistons....and it is not in the tune. We really believe we found the limit of the C85. All cars non intercooled with 2 being blow thru.
Need more info about the class to be able to give anymore details.

Thanks for the reply. The turbos listed are the largest allowed. No billet 88's. Of course smaller is acceptable also. The class this year was a 5.3 class but with some rule changes it's gonna become a .2 or teens class. It's ran in west tx where it's not uncommon for DA to be well over 6000.

VP's race version of E85.
Like I said before, we have cars in the teens with a 76mm. there is no reason whatsoever that with a billet 80mm or cast 88mm that this class will go 4s.....wait, what tire? Can you run the MT Pro?
If it were me I would run the cast wheel 88mm, C16 with a a/a. you can pick up one of those cheaper than a billet 80. Either one will certainly make a boat load of power and enough to go in the 4s if the air is not ridiculous.

How close are you to minimum weight? If you can't get it down below cast 88 weight then there isn't much reason to consider anything else.

Same cars. With 2 of them being blow thru and actually having the intakes get condensation on them no we don't think the IC will help enough to offset the cost.
All of them are making around 1100rwhp. 2 being sbf and one being a sbc. The only thing in common with the combos is the fuel and power levels. The smaller sbf's are making somewhere around 23-25 psi and with the sbc we are making around 18 as that's all it will make.
I have a A/W on my car and it is efi but I am concerned with running the C85 now. Knowing what I know now I may just end up on C16 again, but we will see.
Now that the class that was being run here has gone to Ultra rules methanol may be the fuel of choice next!

Methanol would be nice but i still have the stock pcm. I run e85 and am gonna run ultra this coming year also. Intercoooler seems much cheaper than stand alone and mechanical fuel pump in my case. Need more funds!!!
I was under the impression that e85 was better than c16. Q16 seems like a pain to mess with keeping it sealed.
