Default 1999 LT1 4L60E to 1999 LS1 4L60E

I have a 1999 Chevy 1500 4x4 5.3 with a bad 4L60E transmission. I just bought a 4L60E out of a 1999 Tahoe 4x4 with 5.7. What all do I need to do to make this conversion work. Both are two piece bell housing and 4x4. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, swap the transmissions, plug the stuff in and go.

Look at the connections on both transmissions and if I am not mistaken, they should be the same. If they are, swap em out and roll on.

Just make sure you change the filter and pan gasket on the replacement trans. And if you can, drain out the torque converter and remember that it has to be filled back up when adding fluid, so it may take a bit more.. Cycling through the gears when you have it full in park, then recheck. Do that a few times to get the converter full.

Big Ed,
Do you think I can just use the bell housing and torque converter from the 5.3 or will I need one of these crank spacers. The spacers I find online say for pre 97 4L60E trans with a one piece bell housing. Thanks again for all your help.

its according to how the flywheel sits. if its flat, you will need the spacer between the flywheel and crank, if it is dished, it goes crank, flywheel, then spacer.

My flywheel is dished, so my spacer is the last thing bolted on, and you will need longer bolts. I HIGHLY suggest ARP's and blue Loctite.

something else is look at the torque converter for the 2 transmissions. Since both are 4L60E you may be able to swap them over and they work fine. it is according to how they sit once all the way up on the transmission shafts.
