Default eprom to flash computer swap?

Hello all,

I have a 93 f-body that I need to do some tuning on. I want to know if it is possible to convert it to a 94 computer so I dont have to burn chips everytime I change something. It seems like it should work with a 94 computer, harness, and maf, however I'm not sure about the body connectors. If anyone has any info or experience on this it would be appritiated.

Thanks

I think you would need to at a minimum re-pin the body connectors. You might also need to add some wires.

Yes after modifying the harness body connectors it should work with what you listed.

The only down side is your tune will have to be changed for the trans if you have an auto. The 94+ have the computer controlled trans. 93 is a one year only style trans that isn't controlled by the PCM. That's just one if many differences between the 93's and the rest of the years.

It's more of a hassle than it's worth in my opinion. There is too many oddities to change from a '93 SD wiring to '94-'95 MAF. If you're going to go that far, I would spend the money and do a 24x conversion and be miles ahead. Or just leave it alone, How often do you change things that it's an annoyance to you?

If you have the stuff, or it was extremely cheap its a very easy conversion, you have yk switch a couple of wires/jump across two I if I remember right.I did the swap on a friends 93 formula a couple years ago.

That swap is not going to be a bigger/better benefit as much as it will be a headache.... the ls1 pcm conversion is much better in the long run. I sold my 93 ecu and harness a long time ago since my build had the 24x swap in mind simply because 93 was the bastard year but i love my TA

Thanks for all the replies! The car is a 6 speed so I wouldnt have to worry about trans stuff. I have been doing alot of research and I think I'll stick with the 93 set up and use a chip emulator for tuning. The reason I wanted to convert it is because I thought I would have to burn a chip every single time I made a change while tuning but it looks like, with the emulator, I can make all the changes while I tune then burn a chip once its spot on. Thanks again for all of your input!
