going from D to 3?
i was drivign the other day and thought about if i was to race someone at the moment would it be ok to slam the shifter from D to 3 to drop gears like in a standard, can someone post back if thats ok? and also if i use the 1 2 3 to drive around in, can i go from 3 to 2 like downshifting the same as a standard?

DO NOT MANUALLY SHIFT A ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION!!!!!! We had a thread on these issues a while back (if I knew any thing about the interweb i'd link it here...but I don't... you can do a search on my name because I posted there) The one thing I gathered after much debate on many issues, is that it is hard on the tranny to shift into 4th(od) at WOT and obvously not to shift an auto tranny manually. You asked if it's ok to manually downshift the car from 4th to 3rd to race, the best thing to do is to slow under 70mph that way when you go WOT you will get the 4th to 2nd downshift above 70mph you will most likely get only a 4th to 3rd downshift and the car will feel like a dog unless you are at high speeds then the 4th to 3rd will feel ok. It appears that you have a WS6 so you have 3:23 gears like me, so the info on the downshift speeds should be the same.

Yes leave it on D. And yes on the highway if you are gonna run someone lure them into slowing slow below 70mph you will get a wicked 4th to 2nd downshift at WOT!!! If you want go try it you will see what i'm sayin!!! also punch it a 75ish and you'll see you won't get the same downshift you did at say 65ish. Good luck and be safe!!!

you have a #3? Mind is 1 2 D OD?
you can just leave it in overdrive. If you know you are going to go from a roll at slower speeds, it is ok to gear down once in anticipation of the race. However, you don't want to be running the gears for the upshifts. they tranny knows shifting better than you do...
