Default 2000 WS6 bone stock w/A4-true duals or catback?

A friend of mine recently picked up a well kept 75,000 mile 2000 WS6 with an A/T. No mods planned but he would like the car to have an exhaust with a little more attitude.
What would you guys recommend? Probably want to leave their cats intact.
Suggestions?

Thanks, Brian

As long as he's sure that he's going to keep the stock manifolds and cats I would go catback in this order of preference:

1. GMMG (Madhammer) - sounds awesome on a stock car, but expensive.
2. Flowmaster 80 - sounds great but is known to be somewhat restrictive.
3. Hooker Aerochamber - tends toward the quiet side but can get louder with time.
4. Magnaflow - don't buy their catback with the awful cannon tips, but muffler only and then Walker/Dynomax I and OTA pipes. Have an exhaust shop fab the 2.5" tailpipes, and your choice of tips.

There are others people like - Dynomax, Gibson, Borla, Corsa, etc. but these are the ones I and friends have personal experience with.

He says no mods planned... until he starts modding.

Get True Duals. You won't limit yourself down the road when the mod bug hits.

True Duals, do it once and do it right. I have long tubes, cutouts, Y pipe, Magnaflow catback, all done by previous owner. If I was sitting on a stocker, I'd do it different

It took me 2 catbacks before I finally did it right with duals.

Hooker Catback sounds pretty good on a stock car (That's what I had), but to there is nothing better IMO on a stock car than a GMMG catback. Just sounds perfect!

If you decide on Flowmasters, I'd suggest the 40 series as it has a deeper, more "muscle car" type sound to it compared to the 80 series.

Option 4 is exactly what I am doing. Magnaflow part number 12267 or if you wanna be flashy and get the polished muffler: 14267. Great looking mufflers with 3in inlet and dual 2.5in out....cannot wait to install it on my LT and custom y pipe Formula.

Biting the bullet and doing it right the first time is still cheaper than doing it the cheap way first only to find out you should have gone bigger down the road.

Get duals, do it once and do it right

Personally, before even working at TSP, I went through several cat back systems and custom set ups before getting true duals and I never looked back after that. I had finally found the sound and power I was looking for. That being said, it was with long tube headers that I did that. If you don't think he will ever change the exhaust manifolds or the cats then I would recommend the SLP Loudmouth set up or our TSP Rumbler set up (similar to loudmouth but with a bullet style muffler). Plus you wouldn't be giving up any ground clearance. There's tons of videos on Youtube and even on LS1tech of people running different cat back set ups. Have him go through a few and he can go off of those.

Don't get the Flowmaster... I'm finally changing mine. It restrictive as hell and you will find that EVERY F-body in town will either have the Flowmaster or the Loudmouth... If money isn't a thing I'd vote the Bassani true dual setup. Or some kind of custom true dual setup.
