Blow through carbs
Interested in building a 6.0, was considering a turbo. I got a chevelle it's going in and I'd like to go with a carb. Do you guys use the MSD boost control for timing? How hard is this to tune? Never done a turbo motor before and everybody says to go with the injection, but I know carbs and I don't really want to have to take it somewhere to have it tuned if I make some changes. I have a 6.0, going to gather up some stuff this summer. I want something that is stouter than the 434 sb I have in it now, this thing is heavy. May go NA, with a stroker kit, but these ls motors are very impressive with a turbo.

There are two options for me if/when I go boosted, either a carbed setup using the MSD 6010/6012 utilizing the MAP function or go EFI with the Holley self learning full tunable setup that is at least 1700$.
There is no other option for me. That's after seeing a ton of builds.

Ok, I was going with the 6010 msd, do you use the map sensor for the timing retard through the msd? Don't know if that made sense, in other words does it pull timing, so many degrees per so many lbs of boost? Or do you have to buy msd's boost timing control? Do you use the early style gm map sensor? Sorry for so many dumb questions, but I'd rather figure this out now than later.

msd
you can goto msd website or google "msd 6010 timing curve" or something like that.. msd has the charts posted on their website, so you can go there and look at the map curves and such... should give you an idea of how the 6010 works

I have a blow through csu carb and a 6010 with the map sensor. I have it pulling timing down to 20* at psi+.
I can say if I had a choice I would rather had a self learning efi. Any time I change one thing such as cam im chasing tune/jets.. Hopefully my combo is basically done and now going to e85 the tuning window should be better or at least easier to stay within..
