anyone running a quadrajet on their ls?

I would assume you want to run the Quadrajet because you either have one laying around, or want the gas mileage due to the small primaries?
You can find spreadbore Holley's pretty cheap and can do a lot more mods to make them run good. I have seen a few 650 Spreadbore Holleys on Craigslist for $50-100 bucks that need a rebuild.

q-jet
Yep, I'm running a Q-jet that I calibrated that came off an 86 454 1 ton Dually 4x4. Tried holly, tried carter afb,,,same as eddie and weber. Q-jets 800 cfm and smokes em all in a 4x4 application. Plus once its done,,Its done. No constant tinkering. Engine is 6.2 L92/LS3 with some mods and over cammed...LOL.

Q-jet
BTW, Built one and put it on a Gen I 355 and took OFF the tune port injection. The Q-jet out performed it,out mileaged it and more top end power. If you get a book and learn how to work em, They're great without the holly bandaids.

You made more power than a Tuned port injection set-up. TPI's were never real power set-ups. JFYI. Any decent carb set-up should outpower them as you say yours did. A cammed engine would most likely NEVER run correctly with TPI regardless,s as they were not really that tunable back in the day. The good old days when saying your car had a chip was "cool".

So you're going to run a electronic q-jet carb without the electronics and smoke everybody. LOL. You made more power than a Tuned port injection set-up. TPI's were never real power set-ups. JFYI. I'm not sure at all but. I am sure they didn't get the desirable hangers and rods. I'm sure the wells leaked, just like all the others over time and they had their problems just like every other carb. Be realistic when making claims.

Cannot say about the other carbs out there. As for the 4x4 application, I have no idea how a holly compares to the QJ, never tried off roading.

Q-jet
Holley terrible off road. Don't like fuel slosh. rough terrain etc. Worked on em for 30+ years. Vent whistles, extended jet tubes, spring loaded needles ,tubes to join front n rear bowl vents etc, etc, etc. Don't work cept SOME wide open throttle. Depends on angle of hill climb. Truck avg models work better off camber, but have to run so rich and with check valves in the tubes in the metering blocks, like running a coffee can with holes punched in it. ...imo,and with ones I've had.,,, 670&770. Good for flat racing though. easier to tune. Done lots of carb work.

Sloberjets are great if you get a good one and are familiar with them. They are just too finicky for my liking. Lot of off road guys do use them, but this isnt an off raod site so dont expect a welcome wagon lol. Whatever works for you and your preference I say.....

Short of fuel injection a q-jet is far and away the best carb out there for 4x4's
They are in fact quite a bit more incline insensitive than a Holley.
A Holley is a great carb for tuning WOT and the brief transition to WOT but for just about ANY other application a q-jet is superior.
I run a Holley but if I had a good q-jet I'd be really tempted to try it.

I run a Holley on my SBC and like it just fine. IMO, it works better than the eddy carbs I use to play with on the same engine. The quadrabogg is a mystery to me, but I know the people that like and use them, are very happy with them. My memories of a quadrabogg ( that's what we have always called them, not meant as offence) are on my parents old caddy 472 and my first car, a 73 Olds cutlass with a Delta 98 455 heart transplant. That secondary kick in was unmistakable , LOL. boooowaaaaaaaaaa!! It would shake the windows!

I have problems believing someone with your limited intelligence has a license much less a car. So I won't bother commenting on the rest.
Anyone that wants to believe that a cammed engine and a Q-jet is easy to tune, by just anyone, isn't a honest person. I know people that run them and they spend a lot of time getting it right. Riding around with a dummy carb and a long vacuum line working out the power enrichment spring is normal for them. Its a hell of a lot more work than a holley.
I guess you just tucked tale on you TPI Q-jet comparison. But that's what I expect from someone with no car.
