How much fan is needed for boosted+ac car?
So trying to decide on some fans. After searching for hours I haven't found any good info on a set up that works!
Looking for pullers only. Using a stand up griffin rad. Was looking into single fans to purchase 2 and make a sheet metal shroud. Needs to under roughly 3.5" thick.
Looked these options so far.

This is what you need fits a griffin like a glove and is pretty slim, takes care of the shroud problem and is much cheaper.

I use the stock fans on my Griffin, but you obviously need something smaller.
Preston, are you running those fans on your TA? Do they only have the one plug or is there one on the other fan motor as well? Might switch to them this year for a better shroud effect if they work well with the stock wiring.

Ya I tried to trim the stock fans to check fitment. No way the pt88 is going to fit using the stockers. I'm thinking about getting a Taurus fan and making a shroud. I think I will have enough room since my turbo will be set off to the side pretty good.

Both fans have there own plug you can purchase them off of ebay or pull them out of a salvage yard and cut them off the harness. The plug on top was for a temp sensor, you can wire them to run off your stock. My car hung out around 175 even on the hot days in traffic down in south carolina. You have to trim the upper left corner to get them to fit Sorry the cars dirty been down for about 18 months and I just started fresh build. Just set the rad in so you guys can see how well they fit.
Measured them and they stick out 2 7/8" past the core support.

I have the thin griffin radiator that everyone runs with the derale bad boy pushers that everyone runs. My condenser is in front of the radiator, then the fans. In the summer time with any temp above 90 degrees running ac is not an option since coolant temps rise and keep going up. No ac on the coolant temp will rise about a degree a mile on the freeway. I have purchased a retired nascar radiator and about to do a write up on this gynormous monster of a radiator. I will have to cut the frame rails a little and do some custom fabbing to get it to fit, but once done I dont think cooling will ever be a problem. The size and amount of coolant this thing has is insane. I want over kill on the cooling system. I will make a thread once I get going on this thing.

First off they were ALL tested at Battery voltage (12.5v)
first and then with my truck running with a 30ft 4 gauge wire from my battery 14.5v
Not the exact numbers they fluctuate from 150 to 250 cfm this is an average
Battery operated
LS1 FAN SHROUD
1 fan turned on - 4800 cfm
2 fans on - 9500cfm
LT1 FAN SHROUD
1 fan turned on - 5000 cfm
2 fans on - 8700 cfm
Dodge Fan (both fans are always on - 2 speed)
Slow speed - 3700 cfm
High Speed 9000 cfm
Ford Taurus/Contour fans and shroud
Flowrate with 1 fan
Slow speed - 2800 CFM
High speed - 5600 CFM
Flowrate with 2 fans
Slow speed - 5500 CFM

I thought the popular Taurus fan was the single fan from a 3.8 Taurus?
Preston which fans are mounted in on the ta in the pic? Dual Taurus fans?

I believe those are the taurus/countour fan that Preston posted above on the Laser red mustang as well.

Relays, how many and how big?
What size power wire are you running?
How many amps do they draw? Ties into first question.

Those are the Contour V6 version dual fan that are mounted in the pics of my car (Contour V6 fan is what I typed into the ebay search bar). I posted a link to some new replacement ones on ebay above. You can find a used set for around 65 dollars that's what I paid for mine. As far as flowrates they are just as large as the LS1 fans but are not as thick and have heavier duty motors. These are 2 fans/shroud and a 2 speed setup allowing for double temp settings and a slow start option to reduce current drawn on start up. They are a nice piece. If you put your turbo in the right spot you should be able to flip the fans the other direction and you can center the shroud up better then I could. I'm pretty sure my S480 has larger dimensions and the way I have them in the picture is the only way I could get them to fit.

U managed to fit a s480 in that spot with the fans? I just went out and held my pt88 in the location I want it and there is no way unless I can mount it high enough to on the passenger side to have the larger part of the fan actually under the turbo...(not sure if that makes sense) but the passenger fan is lower then the driver...
Any pics of te turbo mounted by chance? Btw thanks for all he info!

I pulled that diagram off of google.
I wired mine to run on high speed only so I bypassed the resistor. The resistor comes as part of the fan its the plug in the bottom left corner of the pic FYI. Its only purpose is to limit starting current and operate the fans in slow speed.
I installed a 70A relay triggered from the stock ECU power wire going to the stock fans. I also put a toggle switch in here as well so I could turn it on to cool the car in the pits after a pass.
I used a 60A inline fuse.
8 gauge wire
I never measured the current draw though. But the stock alternator had no trouble keeping up with these and both 255's running.
Not my picture, this is the stock wiring.
