Looking for H/C/I Guidance
I've been on this board a long time, but not very active the last few years. Anyway, I'm finally getting around to modding my '02 T/A that I've had since it was new. I've just ordered Kooks LTs and off road Y and will be putting that on as soon as it warms up outside. With the exhaust system being all set I'd like to go with a nice heads/cam/intake set up and was looking for advice.
I want to go pretty aggressive with the set up, but I plan to stick with stock cubes, so keep that in mind. I only put maybe 500 miles a year on this car, so street manners aren't a big deal. I definitely want a lopey cam, so if you have a nice combo that'll get me into the 11s let me know. If you have a particular setup on your car let me know how you like it and what your before/after dyno #s look like.

whatever you decide dont get caught up in how lopey a cam is. i had a shop install a big *** cam and while it made power mileage and drive ability sucked ***.
the tuner and shop i use now put in a custom cam that made similar power and gets considerably better mileage and while its not my DD its much easier to live with.
as far as heads ive heard great things about MAST. FAST is a popular choice for intakes. while they arent cheap theyre worth going with imo.

Good to know. What are you running with your setup (HP and quarter mile if you know)? What you've done is similar to what I'm looking to do.

Keep it simple. Port and mill the heads, install 2.02 & 1.57 valves. Pick any cam in the 224 to 234 range, and find a good tuner. Use the money saved on tire, suspension and a rear that can hang. My .02 cents, Just finished an 02 Camaro that put down 450 HP 433 Tq. with my ported 241 heads, a 228r cam and LS6 intake.

Mods are all in signature. Put down 417rwhp on a stingy dynojet. Based on what other cars have put down on that dyno compared to others, it puts mine right at 440rwhp. I don't care about dyno numbers as long as it runs low 11's at the track. No track times yet, but will have some in another couple months.

You'll be plenty happy with the an off the shelf Heads/Cam package from Texas Speed or Speed Inc. I did mine nearly 7 years ago in Oct 2007 with the Stage 2.5 5.3L heads, Torquer V3 and a ported FAST 90 and put down 445 RWHP and with that setup have run a best 11.41 (9" rear end of course). In the 6+ years since then it's evolved to the FAST 92, then the FAST 102 as far as intakes are concerned. Head choices have nearly quadrupled since then with some sort of CNC'ed factory cast head or even a true aftermarket head. I know a lot of people say get a "custom grind" cam, but the "off the shelf" ones are proven performers also. Keep doing your research on this site here and I'd recommend talking to a couple of vendors here that could give you some helpful input/recommendations. Vengeance , Texas Speed and Speed Inc seem to be the most popular.
