Hey everyone. Well after Planning if im doing a lq4 swap or staying with my LT1 i decided to stay with my lt1 so i need some advise. My Hp power Goal for my LT1 is about 500 to 600 HP.. Do anyone know any good set up to reach that goal or a LT1 Shortblock where i can buy and just Switch my stuff over?

MY car spec i have a 1993 Chevy Camaro lt1
so far i have a Fully Race built 7004r with the BMR Shift Kit...
Ported Heads ,58 Throttle body and Kn Intake system...
Miles on my lt1 137,123. I do want to Rebuilt it and start from new so yea. IF anyone can help me please thanks

How will it be used? Race car or street car? You could be in that range NA at the flywheel perhaps with a big cube LT1 (383-396) with ported aftermarket heads. Or go for a more expensive turbo build and have room to grow hp wise and more low end torque. What is your budget?

better double that amount into the engine or your gonna break something.

Heads and valve train will run you 2300 to 2800 depending on what heads you have.

Short block forged 383 set up right will run you 5k to 7k with cam.

NOS or Super charger?

500 to 600 all the time or with spray?

SC setup might cost you your entire budget.

You're definitely gonna need more than that unless you like breaking things.

Rear end will eat up nearly half your budget easily
Driveshaft
Suspension
Tires
Fuel system (injectors, fuel pump(s), etc.)
Tuning $$$

You can buy a lot of parts used to save money but it's still going to cost a ton.

Then you have to decide what you want out of your car, ie street car or race car. A solid roller build? Big shot of nitrous? Turbo/supercharger? There's a lot to consider.

I will have to disagree with this one. My Scat forged short block was only around 3k, unless your using Callies products. Machine work was about 1K and rotating assembly was like 2K.

5 to 7K for a short block? Mine as well build the LQ4! For 5K you could build a bomb *** LS short block and get more HP as a result.

If your total budget is 5k, you prolly should stick with the LT1 383/396, a 150 shot, and 12:1 CR . Hope this helps!

He can definitely hit his power goal with the stock crank, rods (although I'd opt for new ones with better bolts), and studded mains. The pistons are on borrowed time.

That would be determined by the guy tuning it. Mine are doing fine, but yeah I guess you could say I'm on borrowed time too

Your dreaming if you think you can have 500-600 horsepower reliably for $5000. You may be able to get the power for that much but you will break everything behind it.

Thanks for everyone input. I think im gonna think more Realistic for my project since i only hav 5000 to play around with...

I'm mid build on a similar 500whp goal (before the N2O) and $5k (probably) won't cut it. I'm building a 396 lt1 and I've got 80% of that in the rotating assy and headers, and another $2k in machine work. Then another $2500 to LE for the head work and SR cam setup. Then put a 24x kit on top of all that. I'm looking at 2.5x your budget and oddly enough that was my exact figure when I started a month ago...adds up quick! ARP hides a ton of your budget that you don't think of at first! I know it can be done for cheaper than I have, but once you've started down that road its hard to justify risking the big coin parts to save money elsewhere in my opinion. That DOES NOT even include anything outside the engine that is necessary.
