Default Shouldnt this thing go into gear? 4L80E

I installed this into the car a couple months ago. Its out of a 1993 Suburban and is behind my 5.3L in my 80 Z28. Started it and made sure the level was correct. Pull it into any gear and i get nothing????
Now i dont have the computer set up for the 4L80 yet, its setup for a stick car. Would that matter though? I would think this should still go into gear. It came out working perfectly.

Yes, 2nd and reverse are hydraulically controlled, so you should have both without any electronics hooked up.
