Procharger surge valve and STS turbo?
Alight so i'm piecing together my STS build, it consist of 370 stroker LQ4, FAST 102, NW 102, TSP 228r Cam Or a LS9 cam depending if i want my other car to have a nice lope and pull, Milled 317s, Procharger twin intercooler setup and a STS kit with a MPT76 and a turbowerks scavange pump.
Now my question for you guys is what exactly is the difference between a surge valve and a BOV? is one only to go off at a certain PSI and the other keeps a constant flow of PSI? or are surge valves only for centrifugal superchargers?
Can i run both or would it be best to just take the piping with the surge valve and stick the BOV piping?

The surge valve that Procharger uses has a light spring (2-3 lbs.) and will be open at idle and cruise speeds which isn't what would be used with a turbo. Most companies sell BOV's that can be setup up with both light and heavier springs for both applications. Prochargers valves are only for superchargers and they don't offer springs for turbo applications.

Bottom line: You would have excessive turbo lag using a bypass valve with your turbo. Bob
