Hi I was wondering if the following transmission has a input shafts speed sensor I cant find any
Imformation the trans code is 5hmd out of a 6litre gto with a e40 and t42

As far as I know, the Input Speed Sensor (ISS) started in 2006 on some vehicles and most by 2007. Correction - ISS stated in 2005 on some vehicles. See post below.
Why do you ask?
A 4L60E/4L65E with ISS from 2006 thru 2008 will work fine with earlier LS powered cars because the PCM will ignore the ISS signal. Somewhere around 2009 GM made an incompatible change to the valve body (removed the 3-2 downshift solenoid and changed from a pressure manifold switch to a mechanical switch) and these late model trans will not work with ealier PCMs.

Hi the reason I ask is we fitted a earlier 4l60e to a 2005 vehicle that is meant to have the 4l65e with the iss sensor and it's running a t42 transfer controller the converter lock release is causing us problems and seems all over the place but was all good with the previous 4l65e it has a 3500 rpm converter etc

I guess that corrects my assumption that the ISS started in 2006.
If your PCM expects a ISS, you will need a trans with ISS; there might be a way to tune out the ISS, but I don't know that info.
To check if a trans has ISS, you probably could carefully at the connector as it will have two more pins.
(I will try to post pics if a non-ISS and ISS connector later this weekend.)

Thanks for your help I know you can check by removing the pan of course I guess I could look at the trans plug on the loom two and see if it's got any pins so it's expecting to see the iss signal

I checked the harnesses I have, and I only have a 2002 and a 2010. The 2010 is completely different, which was done on purpose because the the valve body and internal gear-shift indicators are completely different.
Perhaps someone else can post a picture of the trans harness with the ISS pins.
