Default Need help 6 speed to auto question

I'm sure this is something I just need to get creative with but just curious if someone that's already done it could shed some light. I'm going from 6 speed to auto. I have a B&M ratchet shifter the opening is to big to mount just wondering if there is a thread on this or what.

I didn't know a manual trans would have such a huge opening in the tunnel. Strange.
Find someone who can weld some metal into the tunnel. If you cut and pre-form it, it would be trivial for anyone with a MIG welder.

When I did mine, I cut that part of the trans tunnel out of an auto car being sure to include the shifter mount. I trimmed the cut piece and set it over the hole and welded it up. Then the stock shifter just bolted right up.

I took the manual boot and made a template out of thin cardboard then transferred it to sheet metal and the formed if. Worked great

I've done the same thing as StaleyP a couple times and thst by far the easiest thing to do and know that there shouldn't be any mistakes. If you don't have access to a welder, several self rappers will so the job but remember to allow enough to let the edges lap 1/2" or so
