Default Fuel Pump Turning Off

I have an LS3 in a custom install using the standard fuel pump in a different tank.

My problem is occasionally the car will start but then stall.

Checking the fuel pressure gauge it shows no pressure.

Checking the fuel pump relay shows no power (as you would expect with the motor not running) but I suspect the fuel pump is turning off as the ECU isn't telling the fuel pump relay the engine is actually running.

If I bridge the relay the pump will run and the car is drivable.

If I start the car with the fuel pump relay removed (but not bridged) the ECU will throw a code.

BUT when it stops of its own doing it doesn't throw a code which suggests the relay is working correctly.

This has me stumped.

Any suggestions?
