n00b Need Help With Buying Rear End Gears
So I should prolly call jegs/summit, randy's ring & pinion or ws6 store but I'm a night walker and its far too late so I'll ask some questions here.
I got a stock 2000 M6 TA that I'd like to put a 4.10 gear into and then get some 315 tires for the car. I don't really plan on doing any hard launches, just want a fun street car. From what I read it seems like yukons tend to be the best at strength and low noise (not opposed to richmond or motive or whoever else makes gears tho). Apparently yukon sells a 4.11 gear they sell instead of 4.10? Also there's the normal ring gears and the "thick" versions, not sure which one I need or which series carrier I have. Is there a recommended install kit and gear oil to buy? Is my 10 bolt a 7.5" or a 7.625"?
I heard about some solid thrust washer thingy... or something like that that limits flex during a hard launch? I figured that would be a worthwhile investment while the diff is apart. Anything else I need??
I'm budget minded but i'm glad to pay extra for quality parts and install to not have problems down the road.
Finally any recommendation on a shop in the Chicago-land to do the install? I'm in the west burbs

Your 10 bolt is a 7.625" 28 spline. 7.5" and 7.625" are the same. You have a 3 series carrier because of the M6,not a 2 series which requires the 'thick' gear.
Motive offers 4.11s' instead of 4.10s' like all the others do,don't know why.
The solid thrust washer thingy is a solid crush sleeve.

As far as a shop to install, give Speed Inc in Schaumburg a call, they install gears and have everything you need. You can also check out Drive Train Service 292 Devon Ave, Bensenville, (630) 860-7474 but you'll have to take the rear out of the car and bring it to them for the install.
