Default 4L60E Torque converter to TH400

Just a quick query, mate is upgrading his torque converter on his 4L60E and has offered it to me cheap.. problem is I'm running a TH400 in my car. Will it work or are there required adapters? or more than likely 2 boxes converters not interchangeable?

Correct, not interchangeable. TH400 has no clutch, different height and impeller hub.

As stated, will not work at all. However, depending on how cheap he is selling it and depending on the brand/setup of the converter, if you can get the "friend discount" and sell it at a markup, depending on the miles and whatnot (I do recommend a cut and clean before selling or usage, or at least having the person you potentially sell it to cut and clean it) and you can come pretty close to being able to buy a nice TH400 converter. The beauty of non-lockup transmission converters is that they are generally cheaper than their more modern lockup counterparts
