Blower cam to tie me over
Whats a good cam to put into a na ls1 to tie me over till i get a blower? I'd like a cam that would give me some power now to play with seeing as how the blower might not be in the immediate future, but I dont want to have to buy another cam once I get one. Am i better off just waiting till i get a blower to buy a cam? If not what heads should I get that would compliment the cam and then the blower later on down the road? TIA

We have a lot of cam discussions in the FI forum, but I would go with the following with some reasoning (all generalized cam specs):
218/224, shift at 6200-6500
224/230, shift at 6400-6800
230/236, shift at 6600-7300
I would keep the overlap at .050 down to a minimum, so you will probably end up with a 114-116 LSA.
I'm running a 230/236//115/+2 and it's still making power at 6800 when we let off. Remember when you run a lot of duration in a stock cube motor you will make a lot of power but will have to spin the motor up higher... Mine is set up to be shifted at 7200 but it's not a stock bottom end.
Oh and the expression is "tide me over."

thanks for the help and the correction. With those cams u listed pro stock john how much power will I be making with just the cam? Does spinning the motor higher require any other mods to be safe? Sorry for all the questions, just starving for some more power but I cant afford a blower just yet.

It is really hard to say how much power you will be making for every car and cam combo isn't the same or in other words it's all ball park figures. But if you are going to change the cam make sure you change springs and all and like PSJ said you want to keep the overlap down. But you have to keep in mind that when you get your blower your not going to want the stock compression depending on how much boost you want to run, just keep that in mind when you get your heads and I would definately look at beefing up your bottom end. Generally speaking I don't think most folks should spin stock bottom ends over 6600 unless they are comfortable with pulling the shortblock within two years. I am just being conservative here, but the biggest issue will be the stock rod bolts stretching with high rpm abuse.
Folks are easily hitting 450rwhp with just headers and a blower, so 500rwhp with a cam is very doable.
