Megasquirt3 pro vs stock 4th gen ecm
Hello, just wondering if anyone has any experience with the megasquirt3 pro vs the stock gen 4 ecm.
I have a 2008 ly6 and no ecm or wiring harness. Looking for tunability for NA and boost down the road.
Any input would be much appreciated

Assuming you get a "plug and play" MS3 setup its much easier to tune than the Stock ECM and HP tuners IMO. I really like my MS3 setup. Very easy to use, tons of options, and the "auto tune" feature works very well. If you want to retain things like "drive by wire" and transmission control, then I think the factory ECM is a better choice.

Ok cool. I was going to go with drive by cable anyway due to the DBW throttle body's costing twice as much. I just wasn't sure how the ms3 pro would fair as in processing speed compared to the stock vvt computer.
Seems like you've had very good luck with it though so I'm leaning more toward it now thx.

i did an ly6 into my 95 camaro, used a truck harness and completely repined it so that the computer was on the passenger firewall, also used an ls3 intake and throttle body, and corvette accelerator pedal. wasn't very hard, i used a ls3 camaro tune as a base, and efilive to tune.
however i had efilive so if you factor that into your price you may be better with the ms3 system.

I was looking at the ms3 lsx gold box and wondering how that compares or is different to the ms3-pro.
It seems like the differences are
Lsx Gold box has
1. A diff box (I'm guessing has more heat in the circuits cuz of more heat using the box as a heat sink)
2. It has all the plugs for the lsx engine
The ms3-pro has
1. A plastic waterproof case (possibly diff circuit board with less heat?)
2. The wiring harness doesn't have any lsx connectors.
If anyone knows any more information or can correct any of my thoughts on the differences it would be much appreciated

I know when I talked to Mike at EFI source he stated that there were future upgrades to add inside the box. I do know that EFI source is actually the manufacturer of the printed circuit boards that Bowling and Gippo uses.......or was at the time
With that being said, I went with the Gold box and have the first plug and play harness that was made. Could I have built my own harness, sure....did I want to spend the time doing it, NOPE!
Now the only issue is I never finished the car!
Also, this box has all the features that you need over the factory piece with boost control, 2 step, 3 step, dataloging, etc...just my 2 pennies worth.

Well looking at the specs on both boxes lookes like I'm leaning toward the ms3-pro seems to have more options for what I might wanna do in the future.

ended up going with a VEMS V3.8 on my LY6 so 58x crank wheel and 4X cam sensor it's running full sequential injection and spark let me know if anyone wants the specs for crankshaft timing and or cam sensor (sync) specs. on a side note if you do use this ecu make sure to run any relay controled by the P259 chip (low current output) with a fly back diode or buy one with it installed on the relay ask me how i know other than that the ecu has a lot of features and runs at the same speed as the ls1 ecu's
