Default Rear end question

I've heard that the stock rear end on f-bodies are notoriously fragile. What is it that actually breaks? Does replacing the ring and pinion set solve the problem or is it more involved than that? Just thinking ahead as I plan a tranny, TC, H/C package upgrade

There is no way around the problem but to buy a new rear. If you have an A4 it will live longer than a M6. I have a couple hundred into my stock 10 bolt and plan on beating it until it

yea, you should definitly plan on getting a new rear with those mods planned. either a gm 12 bolt, or a ford 9", which is actually a lil stronger than the 12-bolt. i'll be gettin a 9" myself within the next month or two. either way, your 10-bolt aint gonna last.

Will the replacement 12 or 9 bolt fit directly, i.e. LCA, PR, brakes, torque arm, etc?

I believe everything fits, you may need to use exhaust clamps to secure the sway bar mounts to the new rear

how much should one expect to pay for a used 12bolt or 9" and how much would most shops charge to install it?
