Daily driver tires with excellent tread life
Hey all,
I am about to buy new tires and I need a little input. I'm not looking for a drag radial of any kind. I strictly want something with long tread life. I got 30K out of the stock F1's and want to get a tire that can get at least that amount. I will have a second set of rears for the track so traction is of no importance to me. Any suggestions for a tire with long tread life (275/40/r17)?
Thanks guys,
Russ

Sorry, can't really help with your question, but www.tirerack.com usually has some good tire comparisons and reviews. It might be a good place to start.

I went with the Nitto NT555 Extreem. They have only been on for a couple thousand miles but they are awsome. Very quiet, and sticky as hell. I had the BFG KDW before these. The salesman at discount tire said if I keep them rotated (which I do they) should last at least 30000. The only down side is they aren't quite as good in the rain, but you aren't sopposed to race in the rain anyway. Great price ($800 for the set mounted and balanced) and great performance. Way less expensive than Goodyear GS-D2.

I've got BFG KDWS in 275/40/17 and am very happy with every aspect of their performance. They have a treadwear rating of 400 with is high for tires is this size group. The price on them is also very reasonable 633.00 a set mounted and balanced.

The guy at discount tire suggested the KDW's. He said that they would last as long as the Goodyears, if not longer. The stock F1's had a rating of 380 if I remember correctly. I think I'll give Todd a call and see what he has to say, and I'll definitely check out the comparison info on tirerack.
Thanks guys,
Russell
