Paint cure smell ? The converter is in and I get a smell like when paint is being heated.Is this from the converters paint curing?

my midwest smelled like pancake/waffle syrup when i first got it.
after installation i noticed it made my rear tires smell funny, too.
anyone elses midwest smell like syrup?
my other verters didnt.
