4l60e binding in manual 1st help!
While looking around the internet I found a set of directions written by Larry Frash describing how to convert a 4l60e to full manual control.
The directions can be found here: http://jd.offroadtb.com/trans-docs/4l60e-manual-shift-conversion.pdf
It seemed to work but within a minute of idling around 1st began to bind. If moving a few mph and the engine is killed it will free up and roll free so it appears to be a hydraulic issue.
We pulled the pan and valve body expecting to see a blown valve body gasket or other issue. The gaskets looked good, all valves appear to be working. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, N, R all work as expected.
I have googled till I'm blue in the face, and it seems to be a somewhat common issue I have not found an answer for!!
What could cause this? Are the directions listed correct and produce a proper manual valve body?
I'll buy a beer for anybody that can help figure out the issue!
