Default $38 Step-up regulator as "Boost-A-Pump"

Any reason this wouldn't work as a pump booster? I spoke with Magnafuel and they said short bursts of 24v wouldn't hurt the pump. Id' think it would be easy enough to use a boost switch inline with this unit. Would anything else be needed? Big diode maybe?
