Default Gonna replace dash pad, question

Found a "new" dash pad for my 00 SS at a decent price and am going to pick it up, was wondering if anyone has done anything to reinforce one to make it less prone to cracking down the road? If so, what did you use? Process? Didn't want to get an aftermarket one so I could keep it as close to original as possible but was hoping to beef it up for longevity if possible.

Thanks!!

vinyl wrap the top of it, some guys try to fiberglass the bottom to reinforce and say it works but fiberglass doesn't bond to plastic in the long term.

remove the 4 front clips so that the pad can contract and expand without cracking. I have done this on my f-body's without a problem.

Get a dash mat for it and avoid direct sunlight. Dash mat will do the most good for you. UV plain and simple is what does all of the damage.

dash mat will help, but the expansion and contraction is what cracks them.
