PATC Transmission 6l80 Big waste
Hi everyone,
I don't know what experience you have with patc 6l80 on trucks, I have purchased the #6L80PMK " Phoenix Super Master Kit" that comes also with their TC and also their supplied tune this kit was advertised at 1,200 RWHP.
I used this on my twin turbo 408 Silverado, we made 1100RWHP on our mustang dyno here in Dubai, trans was taking the power nicely until I took it on the street made couple of WOT runs on 3rd run it started slipping like hell and TC noise and truck lost alot of power. I have been trying to contact PATC by phone by mail and even through their FB page but never replied, finally I decided to take out the transmission and was hoping that only TC is gone, however when I took it out opened everything was a miss see pictures below:
I paid for this thing around 4000$ and it couldn't handle 3 WOT runs what a waste

Some people have been reasonably happy with PATC, but I think everyone would agree that they "Over advertise and under deliver".
It takes very careful and experienced tuning to support that power level in a 6l80E.
As mentioned, a built 4L80E will handle it for much less money.

I'm not going to put PATC on blast, because they didn't even build the failed transmission, they just supplied the parts. How well it is assembled or lives is absolutely out of their control.
1200 HP through a 6L80E? Not happening for any long term.
Over-advertising is the name of the game in the industry. 1000 HP 4L60E's and 6L80Es aren't the norm and the few that may live there, aren't doing it on a day in and day out basis.
I get asked all the time about my ratings. Mine are conservative, but they are real. My 750 flywheel HP rated Stage 2 4L80Es have lived at 1200 RWHP for YEARS, not passes.
6L80E is the wrong transmission for the combo specified.
