Default Car bogging on a 5500 Rpm Dump on Bfgs..

I went to the track yesterday looking to beat my previous best which was 12.50@111 on a 1.7 60 foot. Now I have stock gears back in and K&N Fipk intake and Ram clutch and I ran a 12.54@111 on a 1.9 60 foot on Bfg drags. I was dumping the clutch at 5500-6000 rpms it would hook and than fall on its face and I would have it to the floor(so I think) than would pick back up and I ran 12.50 area all day. Is there anyhting IM doing wrong? I was running BFG drags with 12 lbs of air in them only cutting 1.9 60 foots. Are the stock gears the problem? Thanks for any help

I have to ask.

I read your mod list, and I didn't see a 12bolt or 9inch rearend....are you really launching on a stock rear?

You said you put your stock gearing back in, what was the previous and current ratio?

If you went from like 343's to 4.10's, it's possible that you could gain 2tenths in the 1/4, but I don't think its possible to loose 2tenths in the 60ft time by going back to stock...thats just too much of a loss IMO

good times though

The stock gears aren't helping. Try increasing the air pressure in the tires.

Yes this sure is a stock rear end. Even though I was laucnhing at 6K I am only netting 1.9 60 foots so Its not to much of a shock on the rear endI dont think. Im trying to get low 12's maybe high 11's on bolt ons so I still have to practice and some weight reduction

Jsears- I will try putting about 15lbs of air in the tires next time at the track and see if that helps. Thanks

The tire pressure isn't your problem, IMO. You're not spinning and that's good. If you can increase the tire pressure without spinning then fine, do it. But, you don't want to cure a bogging problem by spinning your tires. The problem is your gearing combined with dumping the clutch. Practice riding the clutch for just a moment before completely dumping the clutch. Example, start at 6,000 RPM, drop the clutch enough to pull the engine back to 4,000, pause just a moment, dump the clutch. The idea is to buy yourself JUST enough momentum before dumping the clutch as not to bog.

Yesterday I was pulling mid 1.8s with a heavier than stock SS, w/stock gearing, and minor bolt-ons using this method.

Try only bringing it up to a little over 5k then flooring it just before you dump clutch. So you are actually dumping it at 6k but the engine momentum is kinda going up, sounds crazy but its got me a 1.61.
You can see my 6200 rpm shift light go off when I launch lol...

Im with Onyx on this one. When I had my stock rear with 3.42's and ET streets I was able to stall it to about 4800 rpms then floor it and dump the clutch and this was netting me LOW 1.7 60' times with my bolt on car. I tried doing this but stalling up to about 5400 rpms and flooring and dumping the clutch and I just broke my rear

definatly try launching like Onyx and I mentioned I think you will definatly be happy with the results
