Default SUSPESNION PROBLEMS---HELP!!!

I just installed a MOSER 12-Bolt.Everything went in perfectly. The rear doesnt leak and is very quiet.

Well I went to put my 28X9 slicks on the car and checked the driver side first. The tire went on with no problem other than being close to the lower edge of the rear panel down by the front part of the 1/4 panel.I hammered it until I had a 1in clearance.

Okay so I took the wheel off and put it on the passenger side and it HIT in the same spot but worse like it was really rubbing.I hammered the lower area away but its still hitting the lower part of the 1/4 panel. Its like my rear is in crook-ed?

Could MOSER of welded the control arm mounts on the rear in the wrong place? Is this possible. It looks like threar needs to move back an in on the pass. side?

I ordered adj control arms to correct this but I cant adjust one arm shorter than the other so the tire clears the lower edge of the whell on one side? The car wont track straight?I'm stumped?I dont know what to do.I hope I dont have to take the rear apart and reweld the passenger side control arm mounts on again?

Where do I start as far a measuring the setup
Could it be my unbody being off this much?
I hope not?

I need to hear from some drag racers here who set suspesions up.Guys that really look into setting the cars up properly and straight.I want my car to track true and I'm trying to set the car up for safe racing.

MADMAN ,JAY,COLONEL,BEASST,FIREBALL or anyone else that has had this problem could u give me some advice?

purely logical thinking here...no real experience, but id always want my LCA's the same length...whether i shortened them both or lengthened them both...shouldnt matter TOO much, but id definantly want them the same. perhaps the rear is off side to side enough for you to be hitting the tire more towards the edge (sidewall) on one side, and more towards the middle on the other. mroe specifically, the one that doesnt rub as much is contacting the fender on teh outer edge of the tire since tires are curved when not touching the ground. just seems logical im my mind. it could easily be variance in your body structure, especially if you've been cutting 1.5's with out subframes or a cage for an extended amount of time....

or i could be way off.

Well I'm gonna have my buddy Dale look at the car and re-align everything. He has a NSCA 7.90 GN that tracks perectly. He said it sounds like my brackets r off and he can fix it.He is doing an alignment to the car too.

I'll be running 28/4.10 combo and tracking straight now!!!Thank God.

Hey Joel, There is a remote possibility that your LCA / pan hard brackets that are welded on the rear could be off a bit, but shouldn't be the issue, I think that you may have a shoved forwards or bent torque box? That would make it "dog legged" and could be the reason why the car stopped leaving straight a while ago. I would have fully adjustable rear suspension, (which I think you do) and have the torque boxes looked at by a good body shop, re-inforce if nessesary then send it out for a 4 wheel allignment then re-adjust the pinion angle when you get it back. Thats the only thing I could think of at this time, but the 28's are known to touch or come very close to the quarter panel or rear lower bumper area especially from a launch, I think Fireball had a simmular problem recently. BTW, did you check the clearance while it was jacked? or on the ground with 15 psi in the tires?

Joe I was tinking the same thing.I bet the rocker box or panhard mnt is bent.I hope its only the rocker box.

Dale has the table to put the car on at his shop along with the guns to check straightness. We r gonna set the whole car up friday.I just ordered the adj. control arms so I can really dial the susp. in properly.I'm going -3 on the PA.

I had to laugh about the car leaving to the right from time to time when u and I were racing the **** outta her.I think u might be onto something Joe.I'll keep u posted on my results.

Funny thing is Dale told me his GN was 3in off.

Just let me know if you need the upper "frame to frame" mount, just in case that becomes a problem for you, I have it in my office with the bolts and all your AC stuff. And next time we are side to side racing at the track, at least use your turn signals out of consideration for the other driver off your launch! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Haha! Seroiusly, you should be fine once you check that stuff out.
