Default The good the bad and the ugly (back from the track) :)

Well where to begin LOL!

Weather: 72 degrees
track altitude: 600 feet
Felt like Low humidity
about a 10mph headwind
Not sure on DA

Ran through full exhaust, with airfilter on, and slicks and skinnies

Got to the track at 10:15am changed over the tires and waited till 12:30 to tech..
Lightning had struck the tower a couple of days ago and the computer was fried.

2.5 hours later the computer was back up but the printouts werent working properly. For all my slips but one I only had sixty foot and 1/4 mile mph

Well first pass with slicks on 18psi I spun like a bitch. Waited for the shiftlight to come on and "wap wap wap" hit the limiter at just over 6Krpm! I shifted to second and aborted the run. 1.987 sixty on that pass and 89mph. (Just cruised through)

Went around and came back to the pitts. Thinking I hit the limiter at 7Krpms and the shift light was broken I tried gently revving to 6400rpm to light off the shift light. "wap wap wap" off the limiter at just over 6Krpm WTF?! so I put in the 6K rpm pill and brought the revs up and it lit up at 6000rpm!

So for some reason my limiter appears to be at 6100-6200rpm instead of the 7K rpm it was supposed to be set to. (Was going to shift around 6500-6600 with a 6400rpm pill in the shiftlight.)
So now I try it with the 6Krpm pill. Launched decent with some spin (1.78 sixty) but hit the limiter again (200rpm window to shift is not enough for me obviously) and accidently double shifted and put it in third instead of second. Cruised through to the end ( I got my only ET on this run LOL!

12.20@117.44mph shifting 1st to 3rd gear off the limiter LOL!)

Third pass decided to shift at 5500rpm in first and around 5700rpm in second. Spun a little off the line (1.78 sixty again) and ran 119.1mph!! No ET this time just sixty and 1/4 mph. I was REALLY happy with the mph considering the low shiftpoints LOL!

I was going to make one more pass against a very fast Mustang (8 second car) when I was waved off... the mustang was going to run alone. (Good thing for me I didnt race him!)

His throttle got stuck at WOT after he launched off the transbrake and he crashed two thirds of the way down the track, taking out BOTH gaurdrails, flipped end over end and crossed the 1/4 mark on his roof!! He wiped at about 140mph.
Luckily the driver was ok (Just banged up) but unfortunately the car was pretty messed up. They closed the track for almost 2 hours and then NONE of the lights would work. NO TIMES/MPH for ANYONE

What was REALLLY shitty was the problem with the computer and timing lights. There were a LOT of VERY pissed off people there.
I really felt for the top fuel guys and the pro mods that were forced to make (exhibition passes) by some guy standing up and dropping a flag.

Anyways I have a new best mph (119.1mph) and have a couple of things to work out with the program.

Tranny worked perfectly and the car felt like it was making awesome power. With a 6600rpm shift adn hitting all the gears (1-2-3) I should pick up a bit
Slicks also fit great and I had no rubbing issues.

Cheers,
Chris

Awesome MPH given you were not shifting high enough to fully use the cam.

Chris,

Glad to hear you got waved off. 119 mph w/ a short shifting powerglide, eh?

I'm sure your performance goals will be met. Sounds like you're making good power. Time to raise the bar.

If you can get up to 119mph I'm sure you'll run in the 11.3 range. Why were you spinning that much off the line? Was the track that bad or are the new tires not working?

I only managed to make 3 passes and the slicks were brand new (Stickers still on them).
First pass didn't heat them up enough and spun really bad. Second pass heated them up better but still spun a good bit but not as much as before. Third pass I heated them up a lot more but came softer out of the hole. (Didnt load up the converter enough and still spun a little bit)
Non of the big cars (Alcohol funny cars, Pro mod) ran until AFTER the lights and timing system was totally shut down They sprayed the track pretty heavy when they were cleaning up the wreck but then they realized the lights were totally screwed so it was kind of a waste of time.
Cheers,
Chris

Sounds like a real mess at the track, Chris. But you did get one good piece of info, your mph. That's indicative of some low 11's, for sure.

Best of luck next time out!!!

Thanks Dave
I was REALLY happy with how the car felt. Another 700rpm on the shifts, hitting all gears cleanly and having another day with nice air should net around 120mph easily.

I am thinking about trying a 26x10x16 inch ET street to see if it helps any. I can also use them in planned encounters as well off the track

At this point I dont want to add anymore gear and I will save a bit of weight with the 26 inch ET streets. I also ran with an airfilter for all runs and with the exhaust closed.
I can pick up around 1mph without airfilter and cutout open, probably about 1mph from the shorter tire wheel combo so I think there is a good bit left in the car. Once I get this strange issue with the rev limit worked out and can get out again I am sure sub 11.50 is there @ around 120mph
Cheers,
Chris
